Lonsdale Street- once the diverse hub of creative and industrial activity in the heart of Canberra. The rapid gentrification of Braddon over the last five years has beset the vision for authentic creativity and innovation, enabling hospitality and the trendy to take precedence. Many of the original traders endeavour to preserve this spirit, however retaining a sense of DIY community amongst a fabricated aesthetic of concrete geometry and trendy cafes is a tough task. I'll always remember wagging class in high school to explore the rusted maze of urban art and culture stores, snacking on dollar churros and taking in the inspiration.
